寫於出發之前

這幾個月，我經歷「學習」(看英文書，查生字，聽英文歌)和「嘗試」(跟外國人skype & 吃飯 & 飲o野)，接下來就是「實踐」，我要出發到多倫多，參加一個全英語的營會，吃的玩的de-briefing都要說英語，以及自己一個人到處遊覽（！），少不免要說英語和接觸陌生人（二者都是我的死位），希望我的英語和膽量有一點點進步吧（才練習了幾個月，就奢望學有所成？）

無論如何，我覺得已經對自己有交代了，因為敢跳出自己的舒適區，嘗試克服恐懼，即使未必可以十分流利地用英語表達自己的想法，不過我已經不再害怕，心底的怯懦再不能拉我後腿了。

終於，雙腳著地。

Here is what I need to do in the test on next Monday:

- write sentences

- describe words and explain them in English

- fill in the blanks

- decide which descriptions or sentences are correctly describing a certain word

- use the number series (see below)

- write a text of maximum of 200 words!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thesaurus

我一直只知道，不懂英文生字便去查字典，但原來還有辭典（？）叫Thesaurus，即一個英文生字有很多個類似意思的字眼，例：pretty = beautiful = charming = nice = good looking = fair......能用不同的字眼表達同一個意思，如此一來，說話時便更動聽，令聽的人不會感到沉悶。

試想像：一個人來來去去只能用同一個字表達意思，都很悶吧？

於是，我的功課就是學習如何用一個字去解釋另一個英文生字的意思（！），我不但要記著一個字的意思，還要記著另一個字的意思！所以我學了不少生字，希望可以互相運用吧！（我年紀大，腦的RAM急速下降，很難串得到生字入腦！）

我就靠它找出不同生字的意思～

日期的正確說法

我一直以為用英文講日期，是照講數字便可以，例如：8月14日 ＝ fourteen of August，但其實應該是fourteenth of August，如此類推：

1 = first
2 = second
3 = third
4 = forth
5 = firth
6 = sixth
7 = seventh
8 = eighth
9 = ninth
10 = tenth


原來我一直都講錯了，幸好我的language exchangers都見怪不怪，還很有耐性跟我約見面日期，真好人！
